Knickers Masterclass with Charlotte Newland

Availability: In stock

The only knickers class you'll ever need! In this fun one-day class you'll learn how to make two pairs of knickers. First, we'll make knickers using stretch knit fabric and fold over elastic. Then, we'll make knickers using a lightweight woven fabric and picot elastic. You may never buy knickers from a shop again!

About your teacher: Charlotte Newland is an accomplished dressmaker, quilter and all-round crafter. She is the winner of The Great British Sewing Bee 2016 and her quilts have received awards at QuiltCon and the Blogger's Quilt Festival. She lives in London with her husband, kids, dog, cat and sewing machines. Charlotte can be found online at

Skills needed: This class is suitable for confident beginners on up. You should know how to use a sewing machine.

Materials: Sewing patterns will be included with the class fee. We'll use the Jane pattern from Ohhh Lulu for our woven knickers. You'll need to bring or buy your fabric, thread and elastic for this class. You will need:

For knit knickers - .5 metres of 100% cotton or cotton/spandex blend interlock or jersey knit fabric with at least 35% stretch and 2.5m metres of fold over elastic.

For woven knickers - .5 metres of lightweight woven fabric like lawn, voile, batiste or rayon and 3 metres of 10-12mm wide picot elastic. You will need a small piece of 100% cotton fabric for the gusset and this can be knit or woven.

Sewing machines and all tools will be provided. You'll receive a 10% discount on your pattern if you purchase it at The Village Haberdashery.
