Menagerie, designed by Rifle Paper Co., features some of Rifle’s latest jungle inspired art, along with lots of other well-loved Rifle imagery. There are lots of metallics and a ton of substrates in this collection, including our brand new cotton/rayon lawn, which has the handling ease of cotton and the flowy drape of rayon.

Rashida Coleman-Hale‘s next collection, Lagoon, is inspired by an imaginary jungle of lush foliage filled with fun characters like mischievous lemurs and tiny tigers.

Kim Kight is a vintage fabric expert, and her collection Snap to Grid is inspired by the ’80’s! It’s a mix of super fun and happy basics prints that have endless possibilities, with lots of black and white, electric blue, splashes of neon pink and neon yellow.

Survey time! Cotton and Steel Fall 2016 collections

It’s that time again! Time for you to weigh in on all the brand new Cotton and Steel collections and help us decide what to stock. You can earn 25 Stash Points for each survey you complete by end of day on Friday, 4 November and there are a total of eight surveys! So grab a cup of hot chocolate and settle in for some imaginary shopping. I *think* all of the collections are hitting stores in January, except for Wonderland which will ship in March.

Wonderland by Rifle Paper Co.

Wonderland by Rifle Paper Company – A few years ago, Anna Rifle Bond was asked by Puffin Books to illustrate the 150th anniversary edition of the classic novel Alice in Wonderland. The Wonderland collection brings her nearly 80 hand paintings to 32 high quality Cotton and Steel fabrics, including quilting cottons, lawns, canvases and rayons. Alice falls into the rabbit hole to a world of tea parties and enchanted forests, meeting a well-known cast of characters along the way.

Jubilee by Melody Miller

Jubilee by Melody Miller – Jubilee is inspired by a retro neighborhood block party and it has the fun vintage flair that Melody is known for.

Yours Truly by Kim Kight

Yours Truly by Kim Kight – For her new collection, Kim started with love-themed motifs from her extensive vintage fabric collection and created prints the celebrate sewing as an act of love. The colours include a bit of pink neon and metallic gold heart action. Plus there’s a love poem on the selvedge that you can use for quilt labels and tags.

Sleep Tight by Sarah Watts

Sleep Tight by Sarah Watts – Sleep Tight is a gender-neutral collection inspired by what babies might dream about, and it features lots of cute animals and a sophisticated color palette that is on trend with modern nurseries.

Flower Shop by Alexia Abegg

Flower Shop by Alexia Abegg – Flower Shop is inspired by the sights of an outdoor Mexican flower market. This collection at its heart is really Print Shop 2; Alexia continued with the same techniques and sense of play she used in Print Shop but expanded and added more of watercolours into the mix.

Kujira and Star by Rashida Coleman-Hale

Kujira and Star by Rashida Coleman-Hale – Kujira (which means whale in Japanese) tells the story of a whale and starfish duo that set off to explore the waters off the coast of Japan, and all the fun things and landmarks they discover along the way.

Plus there are surveys for SS Bluebird and Black and White 2017!

Kona matching! What goes with Spellbound by Cotton + Steel

This week we’re matching our Kona Cotton Solids with Spellbound by Cotton + Steel! Here are the disclaimers. The colours in Haunted Forest in Coral, Haunted Forest in Lilac and Doily Web in Grey (likewise all the greys in the Black and White range) are absolutely impossible to match perfectly. For Coral, you can go with either Rose or Sienna – they both look beautiful with this palette. For Lilac your best bet is Gumdrop and for the Doily Web in Grey Limestone is closest.

I should also mention that we also left out two colours from Elixir in Grey because they felt out of place in this picture. Those are Citrus (also appears in Moon Cat in Grey) and Melon. Whew, shall we just get on with it then?

From top to bottom, you’re looking at Rose, Sienna, Curry, Meringue, Old Green, Aloe, Teal Blue, Gumdrop, Limestone, Graphite and Black. You can find all of these colours in one place here.
